Watching tutorials and reading blogs about the latest patterns can be so inspiring as a beginner crocheter… but it can also be a little intimidating! I know I often get caught in the rabbit hole of searching for easy things to crochet.
The last thing you want when searching for projects to crochet for beginners is to get overwhelmed. How do you know which project will be beginner-friendly or not? Some claim to be, but when you actually get into them you get crosseyed just looking at the first line of instruction!
If you’re not sure where to start with your crochet journey, then you’re in the right place. I’ve made a list of 5 super simple, super fun, and (mostly) FREE crochet projects for you! Each one of these projects is most definitely aimed at the beginner crocheter. First up is this absolutely adorable squishy baby blanket from Crochet Dreamz! Using a super chunky, really soft yarn and a 10mm hook, this blanket works up in just six hours! How is that for a quick, simple crochet project for beginners?
With fall coming up fast, (Pretty please!?) Who doesn’t need a cute scarf? This adorable free scarf pattern from Oombawka Design Crochet would be the perfect accessory to any fall outfit!
Just imagine this in some beautiful rust and gold colors for fall? Yes, please! Grab her free beginner-friendly pattern, and get stitching.
Can you tell I have Autumn on the brain? This amazingly simple twisted headband pattern looks so comfy! While it looks complicated, it’s super beginner-friendly! The free pattern also has a video tutorial to go along with it, so how can you go wrong?
While it might come off slightly self-serving, I promise this one is a great project to start on. I have written this pattern for a washcloth in plain English with no abbreviations to contend with. It’s the absolute best way to start your crochet journey.
